Couture 3TMP Training: Bridging Tradition and Modernity in Fashion

The Couture 3TMP (Traditional Methods and Practices) training in Skopje is a unique educational initiative designed to explore and preserve the rich cultural heritage of traditional arts in fashion while embracing sustainable and innovative design practices. Over the course of two days, participants engaged in an immersive learning experience that blended theory, practical skills, and cultural exploration.

Day 1: Cultural Exploration and Hands-on Workshops
The first day focused on understanding the historical and cultural significance of traditional techniques such as weaving, embroidery, and knitting in the Balkans and Greece. Students participated in interactive lectures, discovering how these techniques have evolved over centuries and their importance in local and regional identity. Following these discussions, hands-on workshops allowed participants to practice these traditional methods, connecting their artistic expression to cultural roots.

Day 2: Advanced Techniques and Sustainable Fashion
On the second day, students advanced their craftsmanship by learning complex design and textile techniques. The focus shifted toward sustainable fashion, where students explored how traditional methods can be integrated into modern, eco-conscious fashion design. This day culminated in a showcase of student-created designs that fused traditional artistry with contemporary fashion trends, highlighting their innovative approaches to merging past and present.

Cultural Immersion: Visit to the Old Bazaar
A key highlight of the training was a visit to Skopje’s Old Bazaar, one of the oldest marketplaces in the Balkans. The visit provided participants with an opportunity to interact with local artisans, observe traditional craftsmanship in its authentic setting, and draw inspiration from the vibrant culture that surrounds the area.
The Couture 3TMP training equips students with not only technical skills but also a deeper appreciation for the cultural dimensions of fashion. Participants leave with a stronger understanding of how traditional practices can be preserved, adapted, and innovated upon to create sustainable fashion that bridges cultural heritage and modern design.
